album Description:

In the Early 1900s Greenwood Ave built a reputation as the epicenter of black business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The community was populated with banks, small businesses and real estate owned by African Americans. The image cover art is the aftermath of a race riot and massacre that destroyed the area known as "Black Wall Street" on June 1, 1921. My introduction to this history lesson came from being a hip hop head listening to mixtapes in middle school. The fascination came after a little reading, what I learned inspired me from then on. Until now, I never knew of a way to express my infatuation with a black business sector flourishing in the face of hate. I might not be able to pull up on that Greenwood Ave today, but we can move around with the mindset tho. BLK$$$
